Awesome: Pokemon Gold & Silver Get Remade

There goes another 200-some hours of my life. Nintendo officially announced today what is possibly their worst-kept secret outside of ex-company President Hiroshi Yamauchi commanding a fleet of ninjas. In an odd titling fit reminding one of Rod Stewart’s seminal “You’re In My Heart,” Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver were announced today by the Japanese behemoth for release on the Nintendo DS, much to the delight of pre-pubescents, pedophiles, manchildren, and otherwise-rational nostalgic fools.

Arguably, both games represent the series’ pinnacle. I played the hell out of both games back in early high school, leading into what is probably the secret shame of me and a couple of my friends: our addiction to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Everything, from the day-and-night cycle, the character portraits that didn’t look like overmagnified blobs of pixels, down to ** TEN YEAR OLD GAME SPOILER ** the insanely rad bonus of being able to play through Red and Blue’s stomping grounds, the Kanto region.

Suffice to say, I am sheepishly announcing my return to the Pokemon world. Because… we all live (yeaahhh) in the Pokemon world (Po-ke-mon) — please kill me now.
