Metroid Prime Trilogy Coming to the Wii: $49.99!

Metroid Prime Trilogy Coming to the Wii: $49.99!

Nintendo announced today that New Play Control: Metroid Prime 1 & 2 is coming to the US. This was already a no-brainer as the first game is already out in Japan and Europe, but nobody really expected Nintendo to be this generous to the Metroid fanbase — a franchise that has done exceedingly well in the West, but is arguably a flop in Japan.

No, instead of just re-releasing Metroid Prime 1 and 2 separately, Nintendo and Retro Studios have come together and announced what is possibly the deal of the century: Metroid Prime Trilogy. That’s right kids, they’re even throwing in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

All three games will be on one disc; and Metroid Prime 1 and 2 will be repurposed with 16×9, motion controls, and all that good stuff we’ve come to expect from the New Play Control series. Additionally, Retro’s adding in Medals (from Metroid Prime 3) to both former GameCube games, which is fantastic for those who’ve already played both games to death already.

Metroid Prime Trilogy will be released August 24 for the basement-bargain price of $49.99.
