Ninjas and Vikings: Itagaki forms a new game studio

Yes, our favorite rockstar dev Tomonobu Itagaki is back! Itagaki has annouced the formation of new game development studio (tentatively named) Tokyo Vikings.

Itagaki was formerly in charge of Team Ninja, under Tecmo, which developed unforgettable titles such as Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. He has confirmed that majority of the main devs behind Ninja Gaiden and DoA will be on board and that they are working on an all-original intellectual property.  Whoooo!

Last year, Itagaki has sued Tecmo and its president, Yasuda, over unpaid bonuses. Tecmo stocks fell upon Itagaki’s statements, which included rumors of majority of the Team Ninja’s defections.
