Iron Maiden Coming to Rock Band
Up the irons! Harmonix just let slip through their Rock Band fan newsletter that they’ve locked in quintessential heavy-metal group Iron Maiden to their Rock Band platform, and will be releasing a set of tracks just in time for Maiden’s Flight 666 DVD and Blu-Ray documentary disc. Both master and live recordings will be featured on this track pack, set for release June 9th on Xbox Live Marketplace and the Rock Band Music Store on the Wii; followed by a PSN release on the 11th.
“Metal fans have wanted this one for a long time, and we’ve answered them with some of the greatest Maiden songs, both live and recorded,” said Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games & Music for MTV. “Iron Maiden is one of the most successful and widely recognized metal bands of all time, with more than 75 million albums sold, and counting. We’re very excited to offer these tracks, and we know fans will be thrilled.” Great news for Maiden fans, as this announcement dispels rumors of Activision signing the band on for a standalone Guitar Hero game. Guitar Hero: Metallica would have been so much more enjoyable if you could actually import World Tour songs into the game. Harmonix really nailed it by treating the Rock Band franchise as a platform, with cross-game compatible DLC and releasing “track packs” instead of standalone games — let me just sweep The Beatles: Rock Band under the carpet for a bit here…
Can’t wait to play “Two Minutes to Midnight” trashed. Track list and details after the cut!
(All tracks are original master recordings)
